NYC Drops “Freedom” From The New Trade Center
I saw this on Yahoo today, the New York City Port Authority has decided to drop the “Freedom Tower” name from the new skyscraper being built in the wake of ground zero in Manhattan. This spot has been empty since the rubble was cleared from the heinous terrorist attack that brought the World Trade Center towers down on September 11, 2001.
There is a great outcry from the people who are up in arms about them abandoning the name in New York and elsewhere around the country. The decision to simply refer to the building by it’s “One World Trade Center” address has a lot of people very upset. The port authority says it will make referring to the building easier and simpler for everyone but many disagree.
The new building is under construction and has been in the planning and building stage for many years. The design was changed several times and is considered a big mess by many in the media. I personally wish it were done so people can move on and live their lives in New York as well as the rest of America. It’s time to move on, remembering it but not living in the past.
We can never let our guard down again, but we can let ourselves live without fear because it’s the only way to truly live.
